You could also use pinto beans.<\/li>\n<li><strong>bell pepper<\/strong> \u2013 I used a colorful red peppers in this salad, but feel free to use any color you\u2019d like.\u00a0 Mini sweet peppers would work great in this simple salad too.<\/li>\n<li><strong>red onion<\/strong> \u2013 adds a nice color and crunch to the salad!\u00a0 You could also use white onion or green onions in this recipe if you don\u2019t have a red onion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>avocado<\/strong> \u2013 this adds some creaminess to the salad along with some nice health benefits!\u00a0Try to use a semi-firm avocado as TOO ripe may become mushy in this salad.<\/li>\n<li><strong>cilantro<\/strong> \u2013 I LOVE the taste of cilantro leaves so I\u2019m pretty heavy-handed, however if you\u2019re not a fan of this herb, feel free to use chopped parsley or even basil.<\/li>\n<li><strong>limes<\/strong> \u2013 these add a nice fresh and tangy flavor that really brighten up this whole salad.\u00a0 Make sure to use fresh limes as bottled lime juice can have a bitter taste.\u00a0If you don\u2019t have any limes, lemon juice would work as well as apple cider vinegar.<\/li>\n<li><strong>garlic<\/strong> \u2013 I mean, who doesn\u2019t love garlic?!\u00a0If you don\u2019t have fresh garlic on hand, you can substitute a 1\/2 teaspoon of garlic powder.<\/li>\n<li><strong>olive oil<\/strong> \u2013 I like to use a good\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urlgeni.us\/amzn\/olivoil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">extra virgin olive oil<\/a>\u00a0that doesn\u2019t have to be expensive, just make sure it\u2019s cold-pressed and organic for the most flavor. You could also use avocado oil.<\/li>\n<li><strong>spices<\/strong> \u2013 I used a combination of cumin, chili powder, onion powder, and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little spice. You could also add in a little cayenne pepper or your favorite hot sauce into the dressing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add some sweetness<\/strong> \u2013 I really love the tangy, zesty flavors in this salad, but you could also add in a tablespoon of honey, maple syrup or other natural sweetener to the dressing for a touch of sweetness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Serve Black Bean Corn Salad<\/h2>\n<p>This 10-minute recipe is a great way to serve a crowd and can be thrown together last minute for a healthy lunch or side dish. Here are some ways to serve this flavorful black bean salad!<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Side dish<\/strong> \u2013 this simple recipe makes the perfect side dish with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eatyourselfskinny.com\/cilantro-lime-grilled-chicken-recipe\/\">grilled chicken<\/a>, steak, salmon or burgers.
